The Province of Santa Elena with its 3 cantons Salinas, La Libertad and Santa Elena, as well as the canton Puerto López and Puerto Cayo in Manabí, are called “La Ruta del Sol”, a natural and cultural space of great importance for tourism in the coastal strip of Ecuador.

In km 632 is Puerto López, an excellent beach where you can taste the cuisine of the Ecuadorian coast. A few minutes away is Los Frailes beach where you must pay the entrance and register. There comes a point where you can not enter by car and must continue on foot. Los Frailes is a beach without restaurants or hotels, because it belongs to the Machalilla National Park.
